CHANGE YOUR LIFE IN 30 DAYS - WEEK ONE
Week 1: Identify what you really want. Start making baby steps
Day 1: Plan the Visionary Project: Today design a visionary project that gets you so excited that you can’t wait to start. From running the New York marathon to training to become a scuba diving instructor, think BIG. Once you’ve built your vision, the intermediate steps such as eating well, exercising a lot and finding extra time to train which might not have been exciting enough on their own soon get done when linked to an inspiring, exciting project. Get passionate, enthusiastic, and sick with excitement at the thought of this goal coming to fruition. Today don’t worry about the HOW, just let your imagination run riot.
Day 2: Get specific about what you REALLY want by identifying three people you envy (only real stomach tightening envy will do) in the three major areas of life - career, body and relationships. What is it about their career, body or relationship that you covet? Are they writing a novel, or just having great sex? Do they have effortless gym routine that results in a lean body with sexy legs? Envy is a great wake-up call to help you discover your real unexpressed goals and dreams.
Day 3: Create your baby steps: You're inspired, you're clear about what you want, now is the time to get practical and break your goal down into 140 baby steps. (5 baby steps for every day left this month.) Many of us are great at the big picture stuff but then get so overwhelmed by how we're actually going to do it, that we lose heart and give up. Change is scary because we have to step out of our comfort zones. By breaking it down into baby steps, we creep out of our comfort zone without our fear claxons screaming 'You're not good enough' and 'You're going to fail.' Create a notebook labeled Baby Steps For My Most Wildly Successful Month Ever. Write a list of five baby steps for every day this week (but not for the whole month as things tend to change and speed up as the month goes on). Your baby steps can be minute - such as phone London Marathon people, look in Yellow pages for local scuba diving club, phone best friend for encouragement.
Day 4: Start networking! Make a list of potential mentors, enthusiastic friends, friends of parents, old bosses who can help you reach your goal. Then create a blanket email to send to everyone and ask for help but be specific. State what your goal is and ask for help giving examples - e.g. does anyone's company have a fast track entry into the London Marathon/ does anyone know of any Dive Masters I can talk to/a flat in New York that I can stay in?
Day 5: Form a WSMSG. Today get your two best and most positive friends on board and form your Wildly Successful Month Success Group. Tell them your plans for the month and ask them to be there for you this month and to chant 'You can do it', 'you're amazing', 'of course, you can run another 10 miles' whenever you're having a crises of confidence.
Day 6: Make a list of your five favourite things to do. After all this activity and goal setting, get some light relief - be it slouching on the sofa watching rubbish on television to reading a trashy novel. Now get out your diary and set aside time for each one of them for the following week but start today!
Day 7: Reward yourself! Your first week is over, check in with your Wildly Successful Month notebook and celebrate all the baby steps you have made. Ring your support group and get them to cheer loudly. Don't wait until you've climbed your mountain 'til you throw the party, celebrate every molehill. It helps give you momentum.
