GROVE MILL FROGS
The Southern Bell frog lives in the wetland at Grove Mill winery and is the golden symbol on the Grove Mill wine label. It was first introduced to NZ around 1860.
Frogs around the world are becoming increasingly endangered with an average of 35 species of amphibians becoming extinct annually.
Grove Mill is committed to providing a wetland habitat for the Southern Bell frogs while at the same time supporting frog research in New Zealand.

DRINK UP!
The world's first carbon neutral wine gives the environmentally conscious among us a chance to drink a delicious glass of Sauvignon Blanc without worrying about the environment...a perfect excuse for a drink if ever I heard one.
Grove Mill is the first winery in the world to be ‘carbon neutral’. Most significantly, no net carbon dioxide emissions enter the atmosphere through the growing, production or shipping of its wines.
Grove Mill was established in 1988 by a group of local winegrowers and wine enthusiasts. Located in Marlborough,New Zealand, the stunning location that has helped drive the company philosophy to produce their wines without any environmental impact. Which can only be a good thing.
The first wine to be released in the UK is the Sauvignon Blanc 2006, which sports the CarboNZero® neck tag -, a mark of the company’s ongoing commitment to reduce its impact on global climate change.
Grove Mill offsets its unavoidable carbon emissions locally, via a 640-hectare native wildlife sanctuary - the ‘Queen Charlotte Wilderness Park’ - located in Cape Jackson, Marlborough. The winery offsets around 312 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
But, just as important, it tastes delicious. Grove Mill devote a lot of time and attention to the health of their vineyards. Everything is done to ensure a crop of perfectly ripe and concentrated fruit. Once in the winery, the winemakers aim to keep all of the fruit components in balance.
Grove Mill Sauvignon Blanc 2006 is an ‘elegant blend of tropical overtones, balanced structure, crisp clean finish and intense pineapple, grapefruit and gooseberry flavours’. Which sounds great to me. Cheers!
Stockists: Available in the UK from Oddbins.
