Reiki is best known in the west as a gentle but powerful system of hands on healing which can be easily learned by anyone to heal themselves, others, plants and animals. 

But Reiki can also help a person discover their true purpose in life, dynamically aids in the production and achievement of goals, heals past traumas which may be hindering growth, is a way of discovering your true spiritual path and leads, ultimately, to contentment, spiritual enlightenment and the understanding that God and you are one.

Energy

The energy of Reiki works by gently opening you up to the understanding that you are the creator of your own reality; that there is no greater power than you.  With this knowing comes the realization that everything that happens in your life happens because you want it to; there are no accidents.  You make what happens happen.  With this awareness comes the realization that every event in your life is brought to you, by you and that it can be taken away by you as well.

Is it for me?

Who can learn Reiki?  Everyone!  The ability to work with Reiki is activated within you by a Reiki Master during an ‘initiation ceremony’.  All you have to do to experience the magic is to bring the desire.  You do not have to have any religious beliefs at all.  It certainly could be said that there is a spiritual element to Reiki, but spirituality and religion are not the same.

Reiki consist of three levels of training known as Reiki 1, Reiki 2 and Reiki Master.  These levels can be learned over a period of many months or years, or can be taken over one intensive period.  If you feel more comfortable taking your time leaning Reiki, then do so.  If you think you are ready to take all three levels in one go, then you are ready.  It is entirely up to you.

Tuning in

One attunement is all that is necessary to open you to the energy.  It could be said that the initiation does not really give you anything new at all, but rather opens, clears and aligns that party of you which already exists within you.  The wonderful thing about Reiki is once you have received the attunement, Reiki remains with you for life, even if that ability is not used for long periods of time. 

If you are interested in learning more about Reiki it is recommended to check out a few Reiki Masters until you find one that you feel comfortable with.  You can learn Reiki just to help yourself or to offer it to your paying clients.
