glamazon
Crussh, the fabulous smoothie company, is celebrating its tenth birthday this week, and helping to raise money for this year's Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Breast cancer is now the most common cancer in the UK, with 10,000 new cases diagnosed each year, and Crussh wanted to prove their healthy credentials, and give something back, by donating 50p from the sale of every one of its new scrummy Glamazon smoothies to Breast Cancer Care.
“We’ve been big supporters of Breast Cancer charities for many years now,” said Christopher Fung, Managing Director of Crussh.
“The Glamazon is a perfect way to carry on that tradition and celebrate our tenth year. The Glamazon smoothie is Glamazon by name and Glamazon by nature - packed with goodness it’s not only incredibly good for you but it’s also for a good cause too.”
If you want one, you'll have to get in there quick, as the Glamzon is only on sale until 31 October. It's full of healthy goodies - apple juice, banana, 98% fat-free probiotic frozen yoghurt, and three of nature’s true super foods… Acai, Acerola cherries and cranberries.
What's an Acai berry?
The Acai berry comes from the fruit of a palm tree that grows in the Amazon rainforests – a tree which native Brazilians aptly call ‘The Tree of Life’. One of the most nutritious foods in the world, this little berry is bursting with minerals including potassium, which is essential for a healthy heart and digestive system; as well as fibre, protein, omega 3, copper and manganese – basically everything you need, plus a bit more, to keep your body at optimum health.
The wondrous Acai berry has also been extensively linked to research in the prevention and fight against cancer, due to its incredibly high levels of antioxidants which help build up the body’s immune system and ward off free radicals which cause disease. In fact, in a study published by the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, tests found that extracts from Acai berries triggered a self-destruct response in up to 86 percent of leukemia cells tested.
Acerola Cherries are one of nature’s most concentrated sources of Vitamin C with more than 20 times the amount of Vitamin C you’d find in Oranges. All of which makes them perfect for helping to ward off that autumn cold.
Cranberries have long been known for their high levels of powerful antioxidants. But now research from scientists at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth has revealed that cranberries may have cancer fighting properties too. Their research showed that cranberries are toxic to many strains of cancer cells, including breast, lung and cervical cancer.
So, if you're close to one of Crussh's 24 stores, race in there now, donate some money to the cause, and do yourself some good!
