If you're in London, you could be in luck. Cedo , in conjunction with Sainsbury’s, are giving away handly little compost caddies to anyone who buys one roll of Sainsbury’s Home Composting Caddy Liners in London.

The initiative is designed to help tackle London’s contribution to Britain’s 5,375,000 tons of food waste which equates to 17.6% of Britain’s total house waste. Over 150,000 compost caddies will be given away across the UK.

Household Buyer, Siobhan Geary from Sainsbury’s said:

“87% of UK homes have gardens but only 33% gardens in the UK have a compost facility. We are hoping that by giving away caddies and promoting the environmental benefits of composting , Sainsbury’s can play a positive role in making composting more accessible and convenient.”

Easy and green

composterThe Compostable caddy liners conform to strict European standards and have been independently tested to provide proof of their compostability .

Cedo’s Managing Director, David Pearce, comments,

“The Cedo compost caddies in the promotion are an effective way of helping to compost organic material; the bags which line the caddies are starch based, non GM, portable and easy to use. Anyone who’s interested in protecting the environment by utilising home composting should visit their local Sainsbury’s store and claim their free caddy bin.”
