feeling guilty about water?

If you were one of the people who watched Panorama and felt a bit guilty about drinking bottled water - BRITA have introduced a handy alternative that won't cost the Earth!

BRITA hopes to help the millions of UK households which drink filtered tap water to reduce waste and raise awareness of filtered water as the cheaper, ethical solution for consumers who want purer drinking water without the carbon footprint. The company has teamed up with some big name high street retailers, including Tesco, to introduce a water cartridge recycling service. Just take your used BRITA cartridges, which are 100% recyclable, when you go to Tesco, Argos, Robert Dyas or Cargo. and drop them off for recycling.

Neal Jones BRITA Marketing Director said:

: “BRITA is the only water filter company to recycle its cartridges and we’ve been doing it since 1992. Every one of our cartridges is 100% recyclable, and this new initiative is the next step towards reducing our impact on the planet. Four years from now, we hope that 30% of all BRITA cartridges will be recycled. That will save millions of cartridges from going to waste and will reduce the amount of energy and natural resources used in cartridge production”

The latest BRITA cartridge, called MAXTRA is 100% recyclable and just one cartridge can produce up to 150 litres of clean, filtered water – the equivalent of hundreds of empty bottles. So by simply using filtered water as an alternative to bottled water, you can do your bit to help reduce plastic waste.
