Leeds Burlesque was started in 2007 by Dalia Hawley (Cecilia Rouge) when she really wanted to learn Burlesque but could not find any local workshops.
With the help of Bella Besame who teaches all over the country and the nightclub subculture, Cecilia set up the Burlesque workshops in Leeds. Now in its second year, the workshops have featured in the Yorkshire evening post as well as Leeds Guide.
Cecilia Rouge has since gone on the perform Burlesque all over the UK, including Leeds and Manchester. In addition to burlesque workshops , Cecilia hosts Burlesque nights, offers a burlesque private and corporate events organisation for those wanting to add a bit of spice to a party and also burlesque classes for private groups, and hen nights.

A bevy of burlesque Beauties will say 'knickers to thyroid disease' this autumn in Leeds, at a charity fashion show in aid of the organisation Thyroid-Disease.Org.Uk
The Awesome Autumn Burlesque Fashion Show will be held on Sunday 5 October from 7pm until midnight, in the fashionable Victoria Quarter in the heart of the Leeds during Leeds Shopping Week.
Burlesque and thyroid disease may not seem to be an obvious mix but the event aims to use burlesque with its celebration of the female form to help empower and boost the body confidence of those patients whose self-esteem has been knocked by the illness. Thyroid disease affects one in four of the population, and it mostly hits women, causing hair loss,, extreme weight gain or loss, changes in skin texture, depression, infertility, as well as conditions such as thyroid cancer, and can lead to lack of self esteem.
The event is organised by Dalia Hawley of
www.leedburlesque.co.uk, who runs burlesque classes and corporate burlesque events in Leeds, and Dawn Wood of design company Ages Of Elegance (
www.agesofelegance.co.uk). Dawn Wood was the UK Urban Fashion Awards featured Lingerie Designer at their show in London in 2007, and has made clothing for a wide variety of clients such as the Royal Armouries, Bjork and the Norwegian MOD.
As well as showing clothing from Ages of Elegance and other Leeds designers the show will feature performances from some of the area's leading burlesque dancers and alternative entertainers such as Ruby Corset, currently wowing folks in Edinburgh, for a fun packed evening. The event is hosted by Liz Green of BBC Radio Leeds. Models include luscious Leeds lovelies such as the Dagger Dames and the Boneshakers, Ivy Wilde and many more, with fabulous raffle prizes to be had as well.
