MY LIFE COACHING JOURNEY - WEEK TWO
I was prepared again and Glynis was prompt.
I initially felt I had to discuss the issue which had bothered me from the first session before we went further to "clear the air" and make it easier for me to continue. We managed to resolve our differences and start afresh. and go on to discussing how the first session went and if It had made a difference.
It was strange really as my initial expectations were quite different and was surprised how the discussions and thehomework had impacted on my day to day life.
During the discussion she was able to focus on some of my deep seated insecurities without me even being aware of iwhat she was doing - which surprised me a little! We went through issues from the past which have had an impact on how I behave now, and how I respond to situations in the "here and now"
It seems I have always responded in a protective self preservation mode, and not really how I should be as a mature adult. This may be a difficult thing to change but it has made me more aware when in situations I find difficult.
We also spoke about my high expectations of others. I have always had a lot of integrity and honesty which came from the way I was brought up. This has led to many disapointments in my life. We spoke about me maybe not expecting so much from others. It is difficult to describe but I hope you understand my ramblings...
One thing I really must say is that ilife coaching is not for the faint hearted. It's hard work, as it impinges into your everyday life often least when you expect it. I have had a terribly busy and emotional week (families- who would have them) and even when I am trying to sleep it comes into my mind.
I had to admit I hadn't done two of my tasks (one of which was the diary) and so I have promised Glynis I will do it before my next session. She is not really scaryat all, but I felt a bit guilty. I can see that you need to have 100% commiment to get the best out of life coaching.
I've spoken to a couple of very dear friends about what I am doing and it has been very helpful for me to talk through some of the issues and keep my feet on the ground. I think you need to share what you're doing with others as otherwise it would drive you bonkers!
The next session is booked and I will carry through my homework
Talk to you again soon!
