A new website featuring interpretations of classic ‘toons’ launched with Electro upstarts Coco Electrik’s version of ‘Tainted Love’ in February.
As a tribute to their heroes, chosen up and coming new artists have handpicked some of their favourite iconic tracks and reinterpreted them for a new generation: with some individual results, and there are more to come. The site is already producing some fascinating musical offerings. The Tainted Love remake is actually quite sweet, stripped down and funky rather than the Marilyn Manson interpretation of a few years ago which was industrial goth-tastic and frankly quite scary!
On the website, find the latest news, previews, forthcoming artist collaborations and interactive content including podcasts from Radio One’s Jo Whiley. You can download all the re-mastered music for free direct to your mp3 player.
As if that wasn’t enough, all you closet music geeks can have a bit of a play, and add your own personal flavour to the tracks. You can download the U-Myx portal and take the track samples, remix them and upload your very own version for the world to hear, all free of charge.
