Reflexologists are taught that energy channels connect both of the feet directly with specific parts of the body.

They learn that the left foot represents the left-hand side of the body, and that the right foot mirrors the right side.

SOMETHING'S AFOOT

With all the news about workplace stress, and injury lawyers lining up to make money from employees with depression, an antidote to the burnout has been a long time coming.

What do you like to do when you feel stressed? What makes you feel better? Would a nice reflexology treatment help refresh the parts that a cup of coffee and a biscuit can’t reach?   If so, and you’re in East Anglia, persuade your boss to call in a reflexologist, and save the hassle of making an appointment after work.

Peter Farnsworth, (B.Sc., AMGNI, RCIrA, IIHHT, FHT, MICHT) a local complementary health practitioner, has set up Team Health, in Cambridge. Peter was a Systems Analyst with Spicers Ltd in Cambridgeshire for five years, but after having some health problems during that time and resolving them with the help of complementary health, he completely changed his career and trained as a holistic health practitioner.

He now offers on-site treatments, and can treat up to ten people in a day to a blissful office reflexology session which takes just half an hour out of their working day.

Team Health

Team health markets itself as a unique Reflexology and Stress Management service that helps organisations of all sizes promote employee health and well-being. During the treatment, Peter also examines the iris (iridology) to get a perspective on the overall health of the employees, and gives some advice on diet and lifestyle to complement the treatment.

Reflexology in the workplace is one of the most highly effective means of positively resolving stress in the office. A more productive, highly motivated, effective and contented team is the positive result.   Reflexology at work saved a Danish employer almost £2000 a month in fewer sick days for employees in addition to improving the work environment.

Scandinavian Airlines

Reflexology had been used to help the staff of the Scandinavian Airline's Cargo Department. They employ approximately 60 people and handle 2.4 million documents a year. They said;

“Our work is done on computers and people spend many hours in a chair doing their work, resulting in aching shoulders and back. Since we employed our reflexologist … we have experienced a substantial decrease of people being ill and away from work. That translates to 20,000 Danish kroner a month (about £1800)   It has not only a physical effect, but also a psychological effect.

"There is a much better atmosphere in the department, because the employees feel there is something being done about their problems... Before we used to stay at home when ill, now we see the staff go to work anyway because they know they can get a treatment and feel better.”
