Using authentic, wholesome ingredients is key to Hotel Chocolat’s success, a position that is strengthened with their historic cocoa plantation, Rabot Estate, in the West Indies.

This allows the company to make a connection between the consumer and the cocoa plantation.

THREE CHEERS FOR HOTEL CHOCOLAT!

Relentlessly Positive's favourite chocolatier, Hotel Chocolat proved themselves to be the best after scooping the Business of the Year title at a Cambridge Evening News business awards ceremony this week.

The cream of Cambridge's business world turned out for the glitzy ceremony at King's College as Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris showed you do not have to be a high-tech company to be a winner.

"British chocolate has been a joke for some time, and we are on a mission to make British chocolate great again," said Mr Thirlwell.

The company was also named ‘Emerging Retailer of the Year’ at the prestigious annual Retail Week Awards 2007.

Announced at the glittering gala dinner on 1st March in London, Hotel Chocolat beat stiff competition from high street and online brands such as Cool Trader, Specsavers Hearcare Group and Joy in this highly contested category.

The judges were impressed with how Hotel Chocolat has found a niche in such an over-crowded market place whilst keeping with modern consumers’ tastes; “it presses all the buttons: it’s original, it’s ethical and it’s multichannel” commented one judge.

The Hotel Chocolat story...

Hotel Chocolat is a British phenomenon that's unashamedly committed to authentic chocolate. Founders Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris had one goal in mind when they started over 10 years ago – to make a better type of chocolate available to UK consumers bored by the mediocrity of the chocolate available in supermarkets and on the high street.

And starting as a catalogue-based business, that’s exactly what they did, making exclusive chocolates available to UK consumers for the first time. An award-winning website soon followed and in 2004 the first of many Hotel Chocolat stores appeared on the high street.

Chocolate tasting club

Forging close ties with like-minded partner chocolatiers across Europe, the Chocolate Tasting Club has attracted well over 100,000 regular members who enjoy a brand new selection of artisan chocolates every month. The recently launched All Dark Club for dark chocolate enthusiasts is quickly following in those hugely successful footsteps.
